This page is for people who want a clearer body composition baseline before, during or after a weight-loss, training or GP-led health plan. If you are not sure whether InBody testing is suitable, call EHF before booking.

Who this is for

A useful baseline for people who want more than a scale reading

The scan is most useful when you repeat it under similar conditions and compare trends over time. It is not about judging your body; it is about giving you clearer information.

Weight loss

People losing weight

Track fat mass and lean mass estimates while working toward a healthier weight.

Training

People starting a program

Get a baseline before beginning a new training, lifestyle or health plan.

Progress

People comparing change

Repeat your scan every few weeks or months to compare trends more clearly.

Health plan

People under GP-led care

Use body composition information as one practical part of a broader health plan.

What the scan shows

The InBody 570 helps estimate what is changing inside your weight

Scale weight cannot tell you whether change is mostly fat mass, lean mass, water shifts or a mix of all three. The InBody 570 gives a body composition estimate that is most useful for trend tracking when testing conditions are consistent.

It does not replace medical advice, pathology, imaging, dietetic advice or review by your GP or specialist.

The scan experience

Simple testing, clearer body-composition tracking

The InBody 570 is a standing body-composition scanner. The useful part is not one isolated number; it is comparing your scan pattern over time.

Appointment pathway

What happens in an InBody scan appointment

The appointment is designed to be practical and easy to understand. You leave with a body composition baseline and a clearer idea of how to compare future results.

Progress tracking

Use the scan as a baseline, not a pass-or-fail result

One scan gives you a snapshot. Repeat scans are where the information becomes more useful, especially if your training, health plan, nutrition or weight is changing.

  • Start with a baseline scan
  • Repeat under similar conditions
  • Compare trends rather than one-off numbers
  • Ask for extra support if you are unsure what to do next

How to prepare

For the most useful trend, test under similar conditions each time

InBody results can be influenced by food, fluid, exercise and timing. These steps help make repeat scans more comparable.

  • Try to test at a similar time of day each visit.
  • Maintain normal hydration the day before your scan.
  • Avoid eating for at least 3 hours beforehand where practical.
  • Avoid hard exercise before the test until you have fully recovered.
  • Remove shoes, socks and heavy accessories before the scan.
  • Use the bathroom before testing if needed.

Suitability and safety

Call first if you are unsure whether InBody testing is suitable

InBody testing uses bioelectrical impedance analysis. People with pacemakers, defibrillators or implanted electronic medical devices should not complete this type of test. Pregnancy, significant fluid changes and some medical situations can also affect whether body-composition testing is useful.

Questions

InBody scan FAQs

Is an InBody scan the same as a DEXA scan?

No. InBody uses bioelectrical impedance analysis. It is useful for body composition trend tracking under consistent conditions, but it is not the same as DEXA or medical imaging.

Can it tell if I am losing muscle?

It can estimate lean mass and skeletal muscle mass trends. Because hydration and other factors matter, it is best interpreted as a repeatable trend rather than a single perfect measurement.

How often should I repeat a scan?

Many people use a baseline, then repeat at 6 to 12 weeks. The best timing depends on your goals, training plan and how quickly things are changing.

Do I need a GP referral?

You can usually book privately. If you are under medical care, have complex health needs or want your GP included, a referral can help us communicate clearly.

Is this only for weight loss?

No. It can also be useful before starting a training plan, comparing body composition over time, or checking progress during a broader health plan.

Where is testing available?

EHF works with clients across Batemans Bay, Moruya and Ulladulla. Call first if you need help confirming the best location and booking pathway.
